Opel Rocks E-xtreme
The Opel Rocks E-xtreme is an electric off-road buggy that takes the popular Rocks-e microcar to a next level. The rugged vehicle was the winning design of the #OpelDesignHack competition that was won by Lukas Wenzhöfer, a student at the Pforzheim University of Design in Germany.
The Rocks E-xtreme features a 3D printed rugged design with wider wheel arches, all-terrain tires, increased suspension travel, and a tubular frame for added safety. The Rocks E-xtreme version is equipped with a large rear wing from the Opel Vectra GTS V8 DTM race car, roof-mounted LED lights, and aluminum skid plates.
The Rocks E-xtreme has a powerful 6.000 watt electric motor for a restricted top speed of 45 km/h. Like the Rocks-e, the E-extreme is specifically designed for Germany where it can be driven from the age of 15, unlike most other microcars. This makes the vehicle additionally unique in Germany.
The micro buggy has a 5,5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that provides a driving range of 75 km. The micro buggy has a built in charger with a 3 meter long cable and supports fast charging at public charge stations.
The microcar provides comfortable seating space for two passengers and is equipped with a smart phone holder and DAT connectivity.
The microcar has Digital Driver Display technology that provides key information such as speed, driving mode, battery state of charge, remaining range, and mileage.
The microcar has a multimedia system that supports both audio and video with a 7-inch color touch screen display. The system connects to a smart phone via Bluetooth.
The Rocks E-xtreme is available at Opel dealers.
